Sharing a quiz as its own page

A standalone page is a full-page version of your quiz that lives at its own URL on your store. Instead of showing up as an overlay on your storefront, it waits at a link you share. You put that link in ads, email campaigns, or your store menu, and visitors land directly on the quiz. This is a great fit for product recommendation quizzes and lead funnels.

The key thing to understand up front: a standalone page does NOT appear as a popup on your storefront. It is link-only. If you switch a quiz to standalone mode and then look at your store expecting an overlay, you will see nothing, and that is by design.

Before you start

Your popup must be set to Live before the share link works for the public. A draft or paused standalone page returns a “Quiz not found” message to anyone who opens the link. You can still preview it before going live (see below), but do not send the link out until the popup is live.

How to turn a quiz into a standalone page

You can choose standalone mode in two places.

When you create a new popup from the home page:

  1. On the new-popup chooser, pick the Standalone page (own URL) card.
  2. Build your quiz steps as usual.

Or, on an existing popup, in the editor:

  1. Open the editor and go to Container settings.
  2. Find the Display mode dropdown.
  3. Choose Standalone page (own URL).

When you pick standalone mode, the helper text confirms it: “Standalone page. Lives at its own URL. Does NOT appear on your storefront overlay.” Choosing Popup overlay (shows on storefront) instead puts it back to a normal overlay.

Your share link is created automatically as soon as you open the popup’s detail page. You do not need to click any “get link” button.

  1. Open the popup’s detail page.
  2. Find the Share link section. The subtext reads: “Send visitors to this URL, from ads, email campaigns, or your store menu. Standalone pages do not appear on your storefront overlay.”
  3. Click Copy link to copy the URL, or click Open to view the page in a new tab.

You can also copy the link straight from the home list page. Each standalone popup row has a Copy link button, and you will see a “Share link copied” message after you click it.

How to control the look of the page

By default, the standalone page hides your store’s header, footer, and navigation so visitors stay focused on the quiz. If you would rather the page feel like a normal store page with your usual menus:

  1. In Container settings, look under the Share page sub-heading.
  2. Turn on Show store header and footer.

The helper text explains the default: “When off, the share link page hides your store’s nav so visitors stay in the quiz. Tracking pixels still fire.” So your tracking (such as Facebook, Google, or Klaviyo pixels in your theme) keeps working either way.

How to set where visitors go after they finish

Standalone quizzes have a setting called Redirect URL after submission (standalone quiz only). You can find it in Container settings, with a placeholder of /collections/recommended.

This matters most for returning visitors. If someone has already completed the quiz and is being suppressed, they would otherwise land on a fallback message instead of the quiz. Setting a redirect URL sends them somewhere useful, like a collection, instead. Any UTM tags or click IDs from the incoming link are passed along automatically. This setting is ignored by normal overlay popups.

How to preview before going live

On the detail page of a standalone popup, click Preview at the top of the page. It opens the popup’s own share page (the standalone page with the popup forced to show), rather than your storefront overlay. Use this to check your quiz before it is live, since the public link will not work until you publish.

When you click Go live on the popup’s detail page, you will see a confirmation message like: “Live at [your link]. Share this link, it does not appear on your storefront.”

Tips

  • A live standalone page never shows as an overlay on your storefront. That is intended. If you want it as a popup instead, open the editor and change Display mode back to Popup overlay (shows on storefront) under Container settings.
  • The share link uses your store’s .myshopify.com address. If you want to share your primary or custom domain publicly, you will need to swap the domain in the link yourself. The app does not rewrite it for you.
  • Do not copy and send the link before the popup is live. A draft or paused standalone page returns “Quiz not found” until you publish it.
  • The Show store header and footer checkbox only appears in standalone mode, under the Share page sub-heading. If you want the quiz to feel like a normal store page, remember to turn it on.
  • Quizzes are set to show every time by default (they do not suppress returning visitors the way standard popups do). If you raise suppression and a returning visitor has already finished, they see a fallback message rather than the quiz, because the page itself is the quiz. Set a Redirect URL after submission so those visitors land somewhere useful instead of a blank-looking page.

FAQ

I set my quiz to standalone and now it is gone from my store. Is the app broken? No. Standalone mode is link-only. It is supposed to disappear from your storefront overlay. Use the share link to send people to it.

The link shows “Quiz not found.” What happened? The popup is not live yet, or it is paused. Standalone pages only work publicly when the popup is live. Set it to Live, then try the link again.

Can I change the link to something prettier? The link is generated for you automatically and cannot be customized.
